Bike for Three! – So Much Forever

The Best Thing That Originated From Myspace

Bike for Three! consists of Canadian rapper Buck65 and Belgium producer Joëlle Lê (who records under the guise Greetings From Tuskan). On their second album together, So Much Forever, these two show that their first album wasn’t a fluke. Buck 65 is renowned as an indie hip hop artist and Lê has created her own niche in the EDM scene, but together they have fused their passions into one.

On paper, these 15 tracks may look like too much to handle.  A few songs break the seven-minute mark, but when listening to the album one hardly notices; there are few lulls. Both Buck and Lê have brought their A game here.  The first track is simply titled “Intro,” but rather is a more than two minute long atmospheric piece. The true introduction to So Much Forever is the second song, “Full Moon.” On this song, both Buck and Lê  demonstrate what they are capable of– slick rhymes layered over even slicker instrumentals. If one is not familiar with either of the artists, this track is a fine sampler.

All the songs presented are worthy of listens, but if one must be singled out and put on a pedestal that track is “Sublimation.” Though both Buck and Lê share mic duties throughout, this song can truly be called a duet. “I don’t know how to love myself / I hope that you can show me how” and “Love is like a suicide / Broken hearts are unified,” are just two of the many fantastic lyrics that live in this song.

In 2008 these two met on Myspace and recorded their first album without ever actually meeting face to face. So Much Forever reads like an online romance; songs filled with such wanting and desire connecting on an emotional level instead of a physical one.
