Work Drugs @ Boot & Saddle 4/11

In support of their upcoming upcoming LP, Insurgents, Philly dream pop duo Work Drugs are headed out on a short tour this April. The first stop is – you guessed it – Philly! Thomas Crystal and Benjamin Louisiana will kick off the “Insurgents Tour” at Boot & Saddle on April 11th. If you follow the guys on Twitter, you know that they describe themselves as band that “makes music specifically for dancing, yachting, sexting, and living.” And the newest single “The Good in Goodbye” can give you a taste of just that. (You can currently download the song for free on the band’s SoundCloud) The song is the second single from the upcoming album and features fellow Philly native Amanda X. You can also check out “Time,” the first single released off the album. The album itself drops on March 4th, which gives you plenty of time to fall in love with it before Work Drugs hit the stage in April.

The duo met and bonded while in sailing school. Which helps to explain why their music is so perfect for spending a day on the water. Work Drugs self-released their first album, Summer Blood, in 2011. Later that year, they released their second album, Aurora Lies. This was the first release that was comprised off all new material. The third album, Absolute Bearing, came later in 2012. Then came Delta in 2012 and Mavericks in 2013. To celebrate the release of Mavericks, Work Drugs performed a free show at Morgan’s Pier this past summer.

Support for the show at The Boot is Teen Men. The band is side project of The Spinto Band who according to frontman Nick Krill, “wanted to make music without consequences. Something fun, where it doesn’t matter if it fails.” Their first single “Hiding Records (So Dangerous)” was released in 2013. This is not the first time the two have toured together. They joined forces to play Johnny Brenda’s back in December.

Catch Work Drugs & Teen Men when they return to perform for their hometown crowd on April 11th. And let their music help to shake away some of the winter blues.
