Brand New @ The Mann Center 7/12

It looks like we can expect another exciting summer at The Mann as the show announcements continue to roll in. This time it’s Brand New who will be performing on the Skyline Stage on Saturday, July 12th. For those unfamiliar with the Skyline Stage – it’s a completely open-air, general admission setting at the top of the hill. Visitors to the venue love it for its gorgeous view of our city’s skyline. And this July, Brand New will make their debut performance at the venue.

Brand New, an alt-rock band from Long Island, released their first album, Your Favorite Weapon, in 2001. They went on to release 4 albums in total, the last of which was in 2009. With no new material, fans were surprised when Brand New announced that they would be performing a handful of shows at the end of 2013. They played two of their albums each night, including any b-sides associated with those albums, or in other words the entirely of their discography. They then announced that they would head out on a European tour in the Spring of 2014. But the band currently seems unsure as to the direction the performances will take, stating “In regards to the two album set lists we’ve played recently, we haven’t decided or committed to playing these sets in Europe, or for any other future tour, but it’s not impossible that it will happen. We’re not being cryptic, just letting you know in case you were wondering.”

Very little has been announced regarding the newly announced shows and we’re still waiting on info about the opener. (Saves the Day is slated to open for the band in the UK). But the lack of information hasn’t quelled the excitement for fans across the US. The pre-sale for their show at The Mann sold out in just a few minutes. So act fast! Tickets are on sale to the general public starting at noon on February 6th.
