Plenty of big news from The Whigs, who are releasing a new single off of a new album that will drop in April. The Single “Hit Me” off the new album Modern Creation, is their first new music since the 2012 album Enjoy The Company.
This album is different from The Whigs of the past. The band decided to focus on recording all parts together live with limited takes. The goal was for the album to sounds “in the moment” like a well produced live album. They finished the album in two weeks, living by the old fashioned practice of finishing one song per day.
“Recording live became a goal for us early on when writing the record, before we even started composing the songs” says guitarist / vocalist Parker Gispert. “We didn’t want the record to sound over thought and the only ways we knew how to really produce that sound would be to not get tedious about it and to not give ourselves time to over think it.”
The Band is going to promote the new album with a short tour. The band, Athens, GA native, will tour through the south, Texas and Colorado. The band will be playing some of the new album at the festival SXSW in Austin, TX.
