The Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) is back for year 9 of its annual Canadian Blast BBQ, bringing the best of Canadian independent music to SXSW 2014 …accompanied by some delicious BBQ to fit in with the locals! Located in Brush Square literally across the street from the Convention Center, the party/showcase kicks off SXSW music weekend on Wednesday, March 12th. The lineup this year covers an impressive range of Canadian artists, from DJ crew A Tribe Called Red to funk-blues duo The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer to predominantly-bearded Toronto art-rockers The Darcys. Read on for more details and the complete lineup!
Wednesday, March 12th @ Brush Square, 409 E 5th St, Austin, TX 78701
If you have to miss this for any reason, you can still get your Canadian fix with the Canada House showcases at Friends on 6th – details still forthcoming on that lineup. Get in early if you can, as one of the first events of the weekend everyone is both excited and still physically capable of attending and it can fill up faster than you can say Tim Hortons. Or Stephen Harper. If these references are getting esoteric I’m soo-rry.
