Middle Class Rut, an American alternative rock band, rocks out Stubb’s BBQ, March 25.
Zack Lopez and Sean Stockham started playing music together as teenagers and signed with their first record label, Dreamworks Records, in 2000 under the band name of Leisure. After 3 years of playing with Leisure, the two parted and formed Middle Class Rut.
Middle Class Rut gained recognition on their first national tour opening for Receiving End of Sirens and Envy the Coast. Alternative Press reviewed their performance on tour and stated, “…it’s mind-blowing to witness the sheer depth and complexity of the sound these two guys are capable of unleashing on their own…but once the novelty subsides, you’re left with incendiary post-rock with visible traces of ‘90s alternative.”
In 2007, a local radio station streamed their single “New Low” off of their Red EP, which lead to their booming success. Multiple national radio stations added the song to their regular rotation lists, and by 2010, Middle Class Rut released their first full length album, No Name No Color.
