Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons, both up for Grammys of their own, pulled off an awesome performance together last night and overcame doubts their difference in styles could blend together effectively.
Mixing Lamar’s “m.A.A.d City” and Imagine Dragons “Radioactive,” the performance featured plenty of smoke, spitfire rap and pounding rock ‘n’ roll. It was also definitely a crowd favorite, as artists from Taylor Swift to Steven Tyler danced and sang along to the songs. See the performance below:
Lamar had been nominated for Best New Artist and Album of the Year, for his LP good kid, m.A.A.d city, as well as Best Rap Album. He was also up for Best Rap Song, for “Fuckin’ Problems” (with A$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz); Best Rap Performance, with “Swimming Pools (Drank)”; Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, “Now or Never” (with Mary J. Blige); and Best R&B Performance, “How Many Drinks?” (Miguel’s song featuring Lamar).
For “Radioactive,” Imagine Dragons were up for Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance, and they took home an award for the latter.
