Most recently added to the SXSW 2014 lineup is legendary rock band Blondie.
This year marks the 40th anniversary for the band of new wave and punk pioneers. One of the events they will appear at to mark the occasion is the South by Southwest Festival in Austin this March. Not only will Blondie be speaking at the conference, but they will also perform for the music part of the multifaceted festival.
This year, the SXSW music performers have been announced in three groups, and it started with the earliest SXSW lineup announcement ever, in October. The second round was released in November and the third round in early January. More recently, it was revealed that late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will be attending SXSW and taking his show with him.
Meanwhile, the length of Blondie’s run has not slowed the group down. They released their ninth studio album, Panic of Girls, in 2011, co-headlined a tour with Devo in 2012 and, most recently, played Mexico City’s Corona Capital Festival in 2013 with other big names like Phoenix, M.I.A., Fun., Arctic Monkeys and The Crystal Method.
