Returning with one of its biggest lineups yet, Portland’s Stumpfest will likely have no problem establishing its mantra of being a “fantastic amalgam of music, bro love and art” this April.
Founded by Rynne Stump, who worked in the Oregon city’s music scene from 2001-2004, the festival has brought many of the area’s metal bands to the stage over the last few years. The 2014 installment of the fest, which will run April 24-26 at Mississippi Studios, is no different, with its initial lineup featuring the likes of Yob, Lord Dying and Black Pussy. National acts are also getting in on the action, including Cali’s Life Coach, made up of Phil Manley from Trans Am and Jon Theodore, formerly of Queens of the Stone Age and The Mars Volta.
UPDATE 1/29: Maryland post-rockers Trans Am have now been added as headliners to Stumpfest. Stay tuned for more additions to the lineup.
UPDATE 3/10: Portland-based metal aficionados Red Fang, currently on tour in Europe, will jet home from Russia this April to headline Stumpfest. It’s a strong addition to the already impressive lineup for the metal fest, and will lend even more support to Red Fang’s dynamic recent release, Whales and Leeches. Check out their latest action-packed video “Blood Like Cream” here.
