Apparently Muse have a new album in the oven and frontman Matt Bellamy has been pretty forthcoming with details about their musical approach this time around.

According to Matt Bellamy during a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Muse are hard at work on the follow-up to 2012’s The 2nd Law. Bellamy expressed an interest in revisiting some of the earlier iconic elements of the group, i.e. before the last two albums (The 2nd Law and Uprising).
I’ve got a pretty good picture of what I’d like the next album to be like… It’s the comedown and the sort of waking up the next day being like, ‘What the fuck? What the fuck? That was crazy’…I kind of feel like it will be nice to reconnect and remind ourselves of just the basics of who we are
…
I have this strong feeling that the next album should be something that really does strip away the additional things that we’ve experimented with on the last two albums, which is electronics, symphonics and orchestral work and all that kind of stuff.
Bellamy has also stated that the album could conceivably be ready by early 2015 at the soonest. In the meantime, fans can occupy themselves with the band’s recently released CD/DVD recording of their performance at Rome’s Olympic Stadium. Muse have also been announced as headliners for Lollapalooza Brazil 2014; maintaining their touring muscles, no doubt.
