The Kinks Reunion is a Strong Possibility Says Ray Davies

Apparently estranged brothers Ray and Dave Davies have been on relatively good terms after a couple of meetings last summer. Reunion time?

According to Davies in a recent interview, a reunion is “as close as its ever been to happening” after recent talks with his brother Dave Davies and original drummer Mick Avory. Sadly, the group’s original bassist Pete Quaife died in 2010, so a complete reunion of the original lineup is clearly not possible. A possible reunion has been on Davies’ mind with the group’s 50th anniversary quickly approaching. “I said to Ray I thought that it’d be a great shame if we don’t try and do something” says Davies. He continued:

I’d like something good to come out of it, not something sad… I’d like to do something sensible, artistic and dignified. There’s every possibility it could happen, if people behave. Or misbehave at the appropriate moment.

Looks like we’ll have to wait and see for now, but things are looking up with the Davies brothers at least talking to one another (they haven’t played together since 1996). We can hope.
