Will somebody go and spread some holiday cheer across the pond? British songstress Kate Nash released a new music video for “I Hate You This Christmas”, and it’s basically “Deck the Halls”. Except that she spends the whole song dropping profanity on her cheating boyfriend, identical apart from that.
Still, it’s high time we got a halfway decent “screw Christmas” song. Does anyone actually want to hear “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” sung by yet another over-the-hill rock star?
So we’re pretty pleased to get this instead. Yes, it does contain the lines “It’s Christmas once again but,/You’re f**kin one of my friends”, but that’s part of the charm. Nash set out to capture the excessively alcoholic, emotionally messy side of the holidays, and lord did she succeed. Full video below, and it’s worth a watch.
And, if you just can’t get enough holiday Nash, you’re in luck. She put out a full EP, Have Faith With Kate Nash This Christmas. Not exactly family fare, but still pretty awesome. We’re also still gearing up for her Spring tour, starting this March.
