The trial of Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has come to its ugly end. The Welsh band’s frontman has been sentenced to 35 years for sex crimes, two thirds of which must be served before he is eligible for release.
Details about the case first started emerging with Watkins’ arrest in late 2012. Watkins eventually chose to plead guilty to nearly all of the charges. He was recently charged with “three counts of sexual assaults involving children, six counts relating to child pornography, and one count of possessing “extreme” animal pornography” (Spin). Watkins was sentenced to 35 years. Two young women also involved in the case were given 14 and 17 year sentences.
