“Mistaken For Strangers”, the tour documentary of The National, is set for a 2014 theatrical premier. The band, appropriately enough, will also be putting on a full concert at the event.

The documentary has its roots in familial bonds. Singer and songwriter Matt Berninger is backed by two sets of brothers, the Dessners and the Devendorfs. Feeling understandably left out, he decided to haul his younger brother, Tom Berninger, along on tour as a roadie. Hijinks predictably ensued and were caught on camera by Tom. “Mistaken For Strangers” is the result. Pitchfork loved it because of course they did, and the documentary promises to be an intimate look at the personalities behind the music.
Even without the camera, it’s been a busy year for The National. The group’s most recent album, Trouble Will Find Me dropped last Spring, setting off massive touring campaign in support. More recently, Bryce Dessner composed music for a collaboration with Grammy-winners the Kronos Quartet.
