Short-lived indie rock group Wild Flag announced their official break up merely two years after releasing their debut album.
The Portland band was made up of Carrie Brownstein, of Sleater-Kinney, Mary Timony, of Helium, Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss and keyboardist Rebecca Cole, formerly of Elephant Six band the Minders. In recent years, the members have each had their projects apart from Wild Flag, including Mary Timony’s new band Ex Hex, and the recent reunion of Sleater-Kinney on stage with Pearl Jam. About the break up, Weiss stated:
“It was great but I think it just kinda ran its course…It’s hard to have a band when you live five hours apart by plane.”
