“Moistboyz”. That’s an unpleasant name if we’ve ever heard one. Sounds like it was dreamed up by the generation that brought us the Butthole Surfers and Hole. In fact that’s…precisely what it is. More on these brilliant throwbacks after the jump; and some tour dates.
“In many songs, the listeners are reminded that the Moistboyz will never retire”.
That is direct from Wikipedia. And it’s incredible. So, who exactly are the Moistboyz? Mickey and Dickey Moist are actually Mickey Melchiondo Jr. and Guy Heller. If the “fake siblings with rhyming names” thing brings Ween to mind, then congrats, you’ve got one hell of a memory – and you’re on the right track. For the rest of you currently wondering who or what Ween is, Ween is a band. Melchiondo went under the name Dean Ween (bandmate Aaron Freeman was Gene Ween), and for years was half of one of the weirdest rock acts on earth.
Ween has gone the way of the dinosaur, but the Moistboyz are here and, again, aren’t going anywhere. They’ve also tacked Nick Oliveri (of Kyuss and QOTSA) and Hoss Wright of Mondo Generator onto their touring group, should be a good one. Dates and ticket link below.
