Outkast in Talks To Headline Coachella 2014

Hip-hop duo Outkast may soon be ending their six-year hiatus by reuniting at Coachella 2014.

Andre 3000 and Big Boi last collaborated on the film Idlewild and its soundtrack back in 2006, but the group’s last live performance was even before that, in July 2002. The last Outkast album that was not a soundtrack was the double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2003, which featured the hits “Hey Ya!” and “The Way You Move.” There have been numerous reunion rumors since the group parted ways to focus on solo projects, but Billboard has reported multiple sources that seem promising for an Outkast appearance at Coachella next year. One of the sources said there have been “some conversations,” whereas another source said it is “all systems go” for the duo to reunite in Indio, California, for the festival.

According to Consequence of Sound, Coachella will run for two weekends, April 11-13 and April 18-20 in 2014. Other rumored acts for the festival include Haim, Pixies, Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel and CHVRCHES.

The members of Outkast have previously shot down rumors of the duo getting back together. In 2012, Andre 3000 said that there would be no new album from Outkast. Even further back, in 2007, Big Boi was working on a solo album and denied that Andre 3000 would be collaborator on it. On the other hand, Big Boi said at SXSW 2009 that he and Andre 3000 were both working on solo projects, but would then get together on a new Outkast album, which has yet to happen.

UPDATE: Crave Online reports that Diddy’s Revolt TV has confirmed the reunion, as well as the likelihood that Outkast will play several tour dates in the U.S. after Coachella. Sleepy Brown, collaborator and frequent guest of Outkast, also confirmed the reunion, but later removed his post from Instagram, according to Consquence of Sound. Although these two sources have confirmed recently, there has still been no confirmation of the duo’s return from the band, their label, their management, Coachella or Goldenvoice.
