Killing Joke are asking for your help to fund an…unusual project. The English post-punk veterans are preparing to release a remix album, Killing Joke: In Dub. And what, you might ask, does that mean?
Killing Joke has been long acknowledged as one of the biggest influences on 80’s and 90’s alt rock, industrial rock, metal…everything really, as bands from Ministry to Tool have claimed them as inspiration. And they’ve been at this for a long time, so let no one debate that they’ve earned the right to experiment a little.
…which they’re doing. Enthusiastically. If you’re not sure what Dub is, then join the crowd. Some quick research tells us that it’s a reggae subgenre that appeared in the 60s. It’s also tremendously influential, having informed a wide range of following musical styles (yes, including dubstep).
