Q-Tip Indicates NYC Shows Opening for Kanye West Will Be A Tribe Called Quest’s Last

Sad news from A Tribe Called Quest. The legendary Hip Hop outfit is hanging up their mics after a decade-long loose reunion – and this time they’re apparently gone for good.

At least they’ll be going out with a bang. ATCQs final performance will be as openers for a couple of Kanye West appearances in New York City. Founding father Q-Tip confirmed the news:

“In August, ATCQ did our last show FOR Cali. It’s only right we do our FINAL 2 joints where we started…NYC”

Long considered one of the pioneers of late 90s rap, ATCQ first formed in 1985. An incredibly successful run ended after 13 years, after which the band members worked largely as solo artists, with varying degrees of success. A reunion in 2004 ignited rumors about a new album, but these, sadly, were never fulfilled. It seems that, after a string of high-profile collaborations and appearances, A Tribe Called Quest is finally going on stage for the last time.
