Death Grips Cancel Appearance at Fun Fun Fun Fest and Remainder of Fall Tour

Fans of Death Grips will likely be disappointed, but probably not very surprised. Yep, the show goes on – or it doesn’t. The Fun Fun Fun Fest is the latest victim in a string of extremely high profile cancellations by the frenetic experimental band.

You can’t help but be frustrated when a band this good steadfastly fails to play their music. The Death Grips have earned themselves consistent critical praise, as well as rabid fan support, ever since they hit the scene a few years ago in 2010. Since then, they’ve proved to be erratic, and more than a minor headache for any groups dealing with them, including, sadly, ticket holders. A baffling no-show at Lollapalooza was only the first in a wave of busted tour dates and missed concerts.

And it’s still going. The Fun Fun Fun Fest commented:

“We were hoping to not be a part of this, but unfortunately Death Grips has canceled their entire Fall tour.”

…and so it goes – wave goodbye, in fact, to the rest of their Fall tour as well. Controversial Death Grips album No Love Deep, part of the reason for the split between the band and Epic Records a couple of years ago is theoretically due out sometime soon as well. Fingers crossed on this one.
