Upset, the new garage girl-pop project of Best Coast/Vivian Girls’ Ali Koehler and Hole’s Patty Schemel, have debuted the video for their song “You and I” via Rookie Magazine.
Koehler and Schemel, who apparently met on Twitter after Koehler’s departure from Best Coast, have joined forces along with guitarist/vocalist Jenn Price for their new project Upset. The trio completed recording on their debut LP back in April, and if the singles they’ve released are representative of the entire album, they’ve delivered all of the grungy, sweet and sour sound and energy you would expect from their previous projects.
The video for “You and I,” a paraody of Soul Asylum’s 1993 “Runaway Train” video, is a tongue in cheek look at a bunch of sloppy street rats who turn out to be rich kids playing punk for the weekend.
Upset’s debut LP, She’s Gone, is out October 29th on Don Giovanni Records. Until then, catch them on their November tour with Screaming Females.
