Members of Queens of the Stone Age and Arctic Monkeys are long-time friends, which includes a history of collaborating on musical projects and performances. In the beginning of September, QOTSA even covered Arctic Monkeys’ “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” on a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session. Last Tuesday, fans got the chance to witness another great QOTSA and Arctic Monkeys collaborative moment, when frontman Josh Homme joined the Monkeys on stage at show in Los Angeles. Homme produced Arctic Monkeys’ album Humbug, while frontman Alex Turner made an appearance on the last Queens’ album. The video of the performance featured the excitement of the crowd, and screams being elevated by Homme joining Arctic Monkeys on stage for the new song they collaborated on, “Knee Socks,” from the bands latest album AM. Arctic Monkeys have also been nominated for a 2013 Mercury Prize for their album AM. Also included in the list of nominees are David Bowie, James Blake and more.
