Pearl Jam has just released a beautiful film introducing their brand new ablum, Lightening Bolt. Prepare to be wowed.
Although Seattle rock band Pearl Jam has recently released a new single and video for “Mind Your Manners“, it’s been five years since the group has released a record. In the words of Steve Gleason, “What the fuck”. If their recent video featuring conversations with Judd Apatow of Wild Flag, Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein, four-time world champion surfer Mark Richards, and former NFL star Steve Gleason is any indication, however, it seems the wait may have been worth it.
Directed by Danny Clinch, the 9-minute film introduces the band’s much-awaited tenth studio album, Lightning Bolt, byway of Gleason, Apatow, Richards and Brownstein interviewing each of the members. The short film also includes intermittent, beautiful stop motion animation by Andy Smetanka; several Pearl Jam performances of the new material; and an in-depth discussion about Eddie Vedder’s songwriting process.
Lightning Bolt is scheduled to drop on October 15th via Republic, but pre-orders are currently available on Amazon. Pearl Jam will also be making quite few live appearances this year, with a full fall tour as well as several festival appearances already planned.
