That Time Oderus Urungus Got an Internship at FUSE…

If you have any familiarity at all with legendary shock-metal phenomenon, GWAR, this video posted by singer Oderus Urungus on Twitter will be quite amusing yet not surprising…. However if your familiarity with GWAR approaches absolute zero…. well… watch it anyway…

That is a screenshot from “GWAR’s Guide to Fuse Internships,” an hysterical less than 4 minute video in the style of old ’50s-’70s workplace guidelines/HR videos. It chronicles a day in the live of Oderus Urungus as a new Fuse intern with a list of what to do… and what not to do.

For example, what you should do when making copies is tend to the copier and make sure there is enough paper…. what you should NOT do, is photo copy multiple images of your a$$ wearing black panties and fishnets (on a male dressed like a horror movie demon, that is).

GWAR has been shocking eyes and splitting sides for nearly three decades. Their particular brand of completely-off-the-wall-weird-and-quite-frankly-terrifying involves costumes worthy of the most insane monster mash you could ever have nightmares about and a stage show that will leave you yearning for more mechanically induced and man-operated gore. Their skits onstage involve parodies of political and taboo topics featuring obscene lyrics, humorous homicidal rampages, and enough sticky goo to put horror masters Hershel Gordon Lewis AND Dario Argento to shame.

There, now you have an idea of the background of the crazy you’re about to witness. Watch it for yourself, but stay tuned! Below the video link is everything you need to know about what GWAR has been up to, because as soon as that video ends, you WILL be a fan (if not desperately curious)…

Aside from that hilariously asinine showcase of weird by Oderus Urungus, GWAR has been making headlines this year. Less than a month ago, the band released a streaming version of their newest song, “Bloodbath,” dedicated to the memory of late guitarist Cory Smoot, a.k.a. “Flattus Maximus”, who passed away early November 2011 from coronary disease during the band’s Canada leg of their tour. The song is off of their brand new album, Battle Maximus, with which they are currently in the middle of massive tour, co-headlining with Hatebreed and Iron Regan. Earlier release of “Madness” in July kicked off the hype for the tour.

The band is trying to make media history, having recently launched a petition on Change.org to play the 2015 Superbowl Halftime Show. When MXDWN reported on the petition, it had already seen over 30,000 signatures in support of the band’s aspirations. Today, the number is approaching 41,000 with less than 10,000 to go to reach their signature goal! (Psst… here is the link to sign)!

So now that you have seen the darkness and are a die-hard fan, go sign the petition, catch a leg of the tour, buy the new album, and please, for GWAR’s sake, drop whatever redneck brew is on your typical Saturday night booze list, and grab some GWAR BEER!!!!
