Austin’s own model psych-rock citizens The Black Angels never disappoint in the live show area. Those primal drums, killer maracas (yes, really), vintage guitar pedal noise-storms, spaced out bass, and shifty organ synths, it’s all just so groovy, and perfect, baby. Their lights keep getting better, and better, and it seems so does their music. Newest album Indigo Meadow is a melted-technicolor day-dream that keeps reaching into dark, strange corners. It’s just such a great listen, can keep it on repeat for ages. The Joy Formidable is also pretty fantastic. Rowdy and melodic alt-rock with front woman Ritzy Bryan’s killer vocals on full blast. A really aweome lineup for the night, especially if you’re heading over after a full day of festing at ACL.
