This Tuesday and Wednesday night: Metallica and Atoms for Peace get some cable TV face time with performances on the sets of Comedy Central’s mock-news duo.
It’s one more mark in a black-out Summer planner for Metallica, who have announced some primordial album material and staged their very own Orion Music + More Festival. For their September 24 appearance on “The Colbert Report,” they’re expected to discuss their forthcoming 3D feature documentary called Through the Never.
The following day (September 25), Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich’s bigshot band Atoms for Peace plans to stop by “The Daily Show” studios. This begins the American portion of promotion tour for their 2013 record AMOK. The UK-based band whose name sounds like a nonprofit has been making headlines for bootleg footage from secret Club Amok show and by advocating for innovative solutions to the copyright issues in the industry. In an altruistic show of defiance, they withdrew their record from Spotify, which they say benefits entrenched labels while doing little for smaller labels and new bands.
