The Weeknd has just released his new video for the featured track from his recent album Kiss Land. The video for “Pretty” was directed by Sam Pilling. Watch the video now.
Recently, The Weeknd raised questions over the suspicion of sampling Portishead’s “Machine Gun” percussion track in his new song “Belong to the World,” without permission. When the accusations surfaced in the media, The Weeknd claimed that he did not use a Portishead sample in the track. Since the July 2013 scuffle, he has continued to indulge his fans and move past the controversy by releasing even more out-of-the-box and ultra stimulating visuals with his new video (NSFW) for his track “Pretty.” The track is featured on his recent album Kiss Land, his debut album on a major record label. The video was directed by Sam Pilling, and appears to be a continuation of the similar visual themes of an Asian thriller flick and a concept that pushes boundaries. The ending of this video is utterly climactic, especially with a slow, deliciously eerie build up to the suspenseful finale. The video plot follows the story of The Weeknd arriving home and catching his romantic flame in ‘the act.’ A perfect visual match for the progressive and solemn production of the instrumentation.
