Just in case you needed a reminder of just how much ass Nirvana could kick. Spin recently posted an exclusive first look at footage from the December 1993 Live and Loud concert in Seattle.
Nirvana fans should get some rapid goosebumps with this one. The footage opens with Grohl (longhaired) starting up the song and then…you know, being Dave Grohl and whacking the hell out of the set. “Scentless Apprentice” was insane even in its studio incarnation – it’s nothing short of blistering live. It’s also an eerie snapshot of Nirvana’s end days, Cobain would go on to pull the trigger only a few months after the concert.
The release comes just a few days before the release of a monster 20th anniversary reissue of In Utero. The box comes with complete remaster of the original album, along with demos, unreleased tracks, and rare recordings (check the track listing here). The complete, formerly unreleased concert footage of the Live and Loud concert is, of course, also included. For those who just can’t wait you can try and fill the gap with a Deer Tick cover of the album. Check the video out below. Mosh with coworkers for style points.
