Johan Hegg, frontman for Swedish death metal group Amon Amarth, has been chosen to join the cast as a warrior in 2014’s “Northmen – A Viking Saga”.
This news continues to elevate Amon Amarth in the spotlight, as their ninth studio album, Deceiver Of The Gods, was released this summer and notched a spot on the Billboard Top 20.
Of course, for the film, Hegg will be working without the band he’s been a part of since 1992, but that doesn’t seem to deter his excitement for it. Said Hegg:
The mythology behind our Viking heritage is engrained in everything we do and it is awesome to have the opportunity to be part of ‘Northmen – A Viking Saga’. This is going to be one epic adventure and I cannot wait to be on set with my co-stars and this fantastic filmmaking team!
Stepping away from the film production, Hegg will rejoin Amon Amarth as they roll out their 2014 tour in January, beginning in Las Vegas.
