Mexican Summer Announces Five Year Festival and Reveals 2013 Lineup including Ariel Pink, Tamaryn, The Fresh & Onlys, and More

Boutique indie record label Mexican Summer is celebrating their five year anniversary with a two day festival featuring many of their signed artists, as well as a commemorative book.

Specializing in ornate limited edition vinyl, Brooklyn’s Mexican Summer has been the home of many garage rock, psychedelic and shoe gaze bands including Best Coast, Kurt Vile and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. A good selection of the label’s artists will come out for the celebratory two day festival, as well as some special guests. Along with the live music, there will be a pop-up shop of the Mexican Summer affiliated CO-OP 87 record store where fans can sift through rare used vinyl and current releases from the label.

For hardcore fans wanting more, a commemorative book will be released after the festival. Its 250 pages will feature unseen artwork, photos and writing from the Mexican Summer artists, and will come with a 10″ EP of collaborations from Bay of Pigs, The Lonely Sailor and more. The album is exclusive to the book and will not be available for digital download.

Mexican Summer’s First Five Years festival will take place October 11th and 12th at Brooklyn’s Pioneer Works Center for Art & Innovation. For news and tickets visit the Mexican Summer site.
