Lo-fi indie darlings Best Coast have recorded a new “mini album” that’s due for release in late October. The record is the first to be put out on Bethany Cosentino’s own Jewel City label.
The Los Angeles duo have had a whirlwind few years since the release of their breakthrough 2010 debut Crazy For You. They’ve hit the road with the likes of Green Day and No Doubt, and Drew Barrymore even directed a music video for them. The success has given Best Coast the creative freedom to experiment with their sound a bit, and for this mini album they brought the energy. Inspired by Mazzy Star, Patsy Cline and My Bloody Valentine among others, Cosentino has quickened the pace of their signature lo-fi garage rock. In November the two will be back in the studio recording a new LP that’s currently set for a Spring 2014 release. Be sure to catch them on the last leg of their Summer tour, which wraps up September 19th in Omaha, NE. Fade Away drops October 22nd on Cosentino’s new Jewel City label.
