SISU, aka multi-instrumentalist Sandra Vu, has released a new video for her song “Harpoons,” the second single from her upcoming debut LP.
Vu, former drummer for a number of indie favorites including Dum Dum Girls, Boredoms, and Dirty Beaches, has gone solo with her latest project SISU, and she seems to have ventured into darker territory. SISU, a Finnish word meaning “extreme perseverance,” is an appropriate name for a project Vu is using to work out some of her demons. Vu said of her music in a recent press release, “These are pop songs with un-pop sounds.” Check out the music video for her latest single, “Harpoons,” below.
“Harpoons” is the second track that’s been released from her upcoming debut LP, Blood Tears. Back in April Vu released SISU’s first material, and EP titled Light Eyes. The positive feedback was quickly followed up with Blood Tears‘ first single, “Return the Favor.” Vu’s departure from the dreamy pop of her previous bands to this dark, synth-laden shoe-gaze is creating a lot of anticipation around this record.
Blood Tears drops September 17th on Mono Prism Records, and be sure to catch SISU on tour this month.
