Singer/Songwriter Santi White, known to most of us as Santigold, has described her style as unexpected and genreless. She holds true to that description throughout her music and her influences, and most recently through her appearance on Adult Swim as a time-traveling prostitute.
Only a few months ago, Satigold guest-starred on an episode of NBC’s The Office. Last Thursday (August 29th) she supplemented her NBC appearance in the form of a time travelling prositute on Adult Swim’s cop show parody, NTSF:SD:SUV::. In the episode, Santigold appears alongside Eliza Dushku and Jayma Mays as a member of the Time Angels, a time-traveling send-up of Charlie’s Angels, and must warp back to the Wild West to protect the future. Of course in order to protect the future, Santigold must go undercover as a saloon-dwelling prostitute.
According to Spin, “fans should expect more film and television credits from Santigold in the future”, as she has been taking acting lessons and has another television gig already in the wings.
Santigold is not, however, the only recording artist who has recently made a splash on Adult Swim. The experimental producer Flying Lotus has also recently made an appearance on Adult Swim’s Adult Swim Singles Series as his animated alter-ego, Captain Murphy. Similarly, Dan Deacon’s new music video, “USA Suite” was released on the show alongside a stream of his new song, “Why Am I On This Cloud?”
