Nicolas Jaar Launches New Subscription-Based “Serial Label” Called Other People

American-Chilean musician and producer Nicolas Jaar has just joined what appears to be the new trend in music distribution: the movement toward Subscription-based music distribution platforms.

According to Pitchfork, Nicolas Jaar has joined the wave of subscription-based music distribution platforms, which were spearheaded by labels such as Domino and Mad Decent. Jaar now joins the ranks with his own platform, entitled Other People. According to the musician and producer, the “serial label” will digitally deliver new music to subscribers each Sunday.

The first release, which is available now to both subscribers and non-subscribers alike, includes the first 11 minutes of the new album from Darkside – Jaar’s project with Dave Harrington. Next week’s issue – a compilation entitled Trust – will only be available to subscribers, and will feature new music from Jaar, Harrington, and ten other artists. Subscription information can be found on Other People’s official website.
