One of the great American bards is up and singing again. An early version of Woody Guthrie’s “Pastures of Plenty”, a song originally composed during the second World War, has been released for your nostalgic pleasure.
Guthrie is a rare creature – one of those timeless American musicians whose music has shrugged off every attempt to forget it (we guarantee that at least ninety percent of our readers have sung “This Land is Your Land” by a campfire). Numerous modern musicians have claimed him as a central inspiration, and his name graces museums, festivals, and countless tribute albums. The release comes before the October 22 release of American Radical Patriot, a six-CD box set (which includes a DVD, booklet, and 10″ vinyl, among other bonuses) containing the entirety of Guthrie’s Library of Congress Recordings.
