Okay, it’s admittedly hard to believe that M.I.A. will be able to release anything these days. We’d be skeptics about a new song too, if we weren’t listening to it right now. That’s right, “UNBREAK my Mixtape” is here, following a couple of tantalizing tidbits off her development-bogged album Matangi. Fingers crossed for more folks. Listen to the song below.
Matangi has proved to be a seriously star-crossed album. The release date for the M.I.A.’s fourth album has been readjusted, fudged, and just flat out changed repeatedly by Interscope Records. Order seems to have been restored, finally, as a November 5 release date has been announced – although it may have been motivated by M.I.A. threatening to leak the album herself if the waffling continued. Another delayed project seems to be also be falling into line, as previously scuppered documentary with Diplo and Kanye West is up and running again, according to recent statements by the artist.
Here’s hoping things stay on track. Matangi shows every sign of being fantastic, as “UNBREAK my Mixtape” follows strong earlier releases “Only 1 U” and “Bring the Noize”.
