Goth-folk singer/songwriter Chelsea Wolfe has dropped a stream of her new track, “The Waves Have Come,” the third to be released from her upcoming album, Pain Is Beauty.
The Los Angeles songstress is gearing up for the release of her latest studio album in early September, a follow-up to 2012’s acoustic Unknown Rooms. Her haunting brand of surreal folk has been pretty consistent since her 2010 debut, even on her collection of covers from 80’s anarcho-punk band Rudimentary Peni. But for this album she’s testing the waters with more electronic elements. This is evident in the lead single, “The Warden.” The second single, released last month, is more of what we’re used to hearing from Wolfe. This new track clocks in at over 8 minutes of epic, cinematic soundscape.
Pain Is Beauty is out September 3rd on Sargent House. If you have a desire to see the new songs live, Chelsea will being playing this Sunday at Los Angeles’ FYF Fest.
