The Flaming Lips Announce The Stone Roses Cover Album Featuring Polica, Ke$ha, DeapthAndCurrent, and More Set for Release “In Another Week Or So”

Recently The Flaming Lips have done a spectacular job at bringing legendary music of the past back to life. After contributing to Re-Machined: A Tribute to Deep Purple’s Machine Head in 2012, then releasing Playing Hide and Seek With the Ghosts of Dawn, cover album of King Crimson’s In The Court of King Crimson, the same year, the psychedelic group keep the remakes flowin’ with their involvement in this year’s reworking of The Stone Roses’ debut album.

Yesterday, a post on The Flaming Lips’ Facebook page, where they go by the name The Future Heart, announced this remake of The Stone Roses would be released “In Another Week Or So”. Coyne had also mentioned the upcoming release, via his Instagram and Twitter, the night before. The album features other such guest artists as Foxygen, Peaking Lights and Poliça, and it’s been in the makings ever since Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne and band HOTT MT began working on it this January.

According to The Lips’ website, this new collaboration began following the arrival of HOTT MT to Coyne’s doorstep in 2012, with gifts for his birthday. The band is said to have told Coyne they wanted to cover “This Is The One” by The Stone Roses, and since Coyne wanted to get started on another cover album, the suggestion by HOTT MT felt right.

So perhaps we will get our hands on this exciting new cover album next week – fingers crossed.
