Midlake recently announced the release date for their upcoming fourth album Antiphon, which is due out this November. Check out album details and listen to newly released title track here.
Midlake always has something different to offer. From the start, the band has been an intriguing intersection of musical styles. Formed in 1999 by a group of Texan Jazz students, Midlake’s melodic indie rock has been influences ranging from Herbie Hancock to Radiohead. Antiphon marks yet another change for the group, as new frontman Pulido takes over from Tim Smith, who left the band in November of 2012.
Smith’s departure resulted in the scrapping of nearly two years of recordings, and some fallout amongst their fanbase. Midlake chose to start anew, and Antiphon is the result. The band believe their newest album features a more relaxed, buoyant version of Midlake, check out the title track here:
