In anticipation of her upcoming album Versions, Zola Jesus releases new video of “Avalanche,” from her 2012 live performance at the Guggenheim, produced by PitchforkTV.
Last year, the Guggenheim Museum hosted a remarkably poignant collaboration between Nika Roza Danilova’s critic-pleasing classical-electronic act Zola Jesus and producer J.G. Thirlwell (aka Foetus), whose string quartet arrangements hoisted Danilova’s powerful voice to its expressive edge. For the performance, Thirlwell, who produces experimental symphonic compositions for a variety of projects, which include his own project Manorexia and the score of Adult Swim’s Venture Brothers series, enlisted the skills of New York’s accomplished contemporary music ensemble The Mivos Quartet. Following the August 20th release of Versions, Zola Jesus and her powerhouse band will be embarking on a pan-Atlantic tour, dates of which can be found below.
