Lovable New Zealand comedy duo Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement will be providing New York City with three nights of their Flight of the Conchords act, at the McKittrick Hotel.
While previously proclaiming themselves “New Zealand’s 4th most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo”, Flight of the Conchords now boast their own title of “the almost award-winning fourth-most-popular folk duo in New Zealand.” Their HBO series may have been canceled in 2009, but the two appeared together in the horror comedy film Diagnosis: Death that same year, and would both go on, individually, as actors in various movies. McKenzie would star in such films as The Muppets, and The Hobbit, while Clement would have roles in Men In Black 3, and Dinner With Schmucks.
They’ve gotten back together for shows on the road, however, including their sets at the McKittrick August 17th, 18th and 19th, which do not coincide with the hotel’s Sleep No More series. And while McKittrick’s website claims tickets for all 3 nights are sold out already, rumor has it there will still be tickets available closer to the event.
But if you do miss Flight of the Conchords that weekend, they can be seen alongside Dave Chapelle and others as they embark on the 13-stop Funny or Die’s Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival tour that kicks off in Austin August 23.
