The Wavves have announced an extensive Summer and Fall 2013 tour line-up with shows in North America and Europe. The tour is in support of the band’s fourth studio album, Afraid of Heights.
Since the release of their fourth studio album, Afraid of Heights, The Wavves have announced their Summer and Fall 2013 tour dates. The tour includes shows in both North America and Europe. Afraid of Heights has elevated the duo’s success with a more polished and ‘bigger’ sound. This will be The Wavves first album via Mom + Pop and Warner Bros. labels in the US (Released via AWAL Records in Europe). Guitarist Nathan Williams and bassist Stephen Pope self-funded the album, which includes the production talents of John Hill, known for his work with famed artists such as M.I.A., Nas, and Santigold. The Wavves are known for their “off the cuff” and chaotic orchestration and in this album there is an atmosphere (melodically and lyrically) of stepping out into the world. Their June release of the video for their upcoming song “That’s On Me” also pays tribute to the band’s signature style of shock, intrigue and an overload of abstract artistry.
“The general theme of the record is depression and anxiety, being death-obsessed and paranoid of impending doom. I feel like the narration is almost schizophrenic if you listen front to back; every word is important, even the constant contradictions and lack of self-worth. That’s all a part of this record-questioning everything not because I’m curious, but because I’m paranoid.” – Nathan Williams
The album is currently available for purchase on iTunes.
