LISTEN: SISU Release Stream of New Song “Return the Favor” Off of New Blood Tears LP Set for September 2013 Release

Los Angeles-based SISU is releasing their debut full-length album, Blood Tears, on September 17.

SISU’s Light Eyes EP was released in April of this year, featuring the single “Two Thousand Hands,” and fans are probably ready for fresh material from the band. The new album was written entirely by SISU’s head songwriter, Sandra Vu, who is also a member of the Dum Dum Girls. The lead single of Blood Tears is called “Return the Favor” and it can be streamed on Soundcloud:

Vu says that “Blood Tears is about the anxiety of starting over, the hangover of failure, breaking up, insecurities, self doubt, finding a voice, finding that you have a voice, speaking up and singing louder.” The album’s sound is different from that of Vu’s other band, Dum Dum Girls, and varies in style. While writing it, Vu says, “I didn’t want to sound like any one thing…but I did want to make pop songs with unpop sounds. Whether a song starts out as a noise or with an abrasive synth, I always find my way back to melody and structure.”
