On September 14th, Tucson’s Centennial Hall welcomes the transfixingly virtuosic Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club as they add the United States to its collection of world tour destinations.
To champion the music of the jazz-infused Latin tradition, the 15-member all-Cuban lineup boasts original Buena Vista Social Club mates including Omara Poruondo and Eliades Ochoa (both Latin Grammy award winners), trumpeter Guajiro Mirabal, and laúd virtuoso Barbarito Torres. Having recently toured through Britain, the Orquesta received across-the-board praise from the U.K. Press. Their month-long American tour spans 14 cities from San Francisco to New York.
