Morrissey Postpones More Tour Dates Due to “Severe Food Poisoning”

After being stricken with severe food poisoning while with the rest of his band in Santiago, Chile, Morrissey has postponed his fourteen-date tour in South America. Allegedly he has returned home to receive care from his personal physicians in the United Kingdom, and will not risk going back out on tour this time.

A year ago Morrissey planned a tour that would include performances with The Stooges, then abruptly cancelled it, citing his mother’s severe illness as the reason for the cancellation.

For the remainder of the year he postponed various more shows for an endless array of reasons, including bleeding ulcer and pneumonia that left him close to death. He also cancelled an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel to defend his staunch vegetarianism and speak out for animal rights.

The South American tour would have been his first opportunity to get back on the road after this string of cancellations, but unfortunately, food poisoning as a result of eating at an unhygienic restaurant in Santiago has left Morrissey, along with eight other people, severely ill.

A concert movie will also be released soon, entitled Morrissey 25: Live.
