Small Black has debuted a live video from a recent performance of the track “Breathless” off of their latest album Limits of Desire. Check out the energetic and colorful live performance after the break.
The indie group from Brooklyn New York has posted a stream of a live performance of “Breathless” at a recent hometown show. Their newest album Limits of Desire, from which the aforementioned track comes from, has been receiving rave reviews as of late with Pitchfork calling it “simultaneously understated and anthemic,” and our very own review of the album noted its impeccable production value and the band’s impressive performance level throughout the album.
An interesting side note to this track; it was the inspiration for a beer bearing the band’s name as part of a collaboration with Stillwater Artisanal as part of the Brewery’s second volume in their Sensory Series. The brew, Small Black Beer, is a black saison and includes packaging featuring a QR code to view the video for “Breathless,” which was commissioned by Stillwater.
Brian Strumke, of Stillwater Artisanal, said,
“After many listens to the new album we agreed on the track ‘Breathless’ as inspiration for the beer. The tune instantly jumped out as a summer anthem…Uplifting pads, soothing vocals, and a solid 4/4 kick give the song a powerful drive while still maintaining its beauty and elegance. In constructing the accompanying beverage I took a similar direction – a dark black beer that maintains the elegance of the song…And while the beer is black, it’s extremely light bodied…Perfect for those late night summer parties.”
