Goofball rock’n’roll madmen Queens of the Stone Age are re-releasing their latest album, …Like Clockwork, on an updated (and possibly more useful) format: a USB flash drive. If you’re wondering what the hell they’re thinking, SNL comedian Fred Armisen helped the guys throw together a little promo video to tell you about it.
QOTSA’s sixth album, …Like Clockwork, has received plenty of positive attention since it’s No.1 debut in early June. But why a USB drive? Along with the album, the drive holds photos, artwork, music videos, lyric sheets, and has plenty of extra storage space on its 8 gigabytes. As a special offer, if you purchase one USB stick now, they’ll throw in another for free (with shipping and handling, of course). And (drum roll please) it doubles as a bottle opener. Sweet! Plus, as Armisen alter-ego Ricky Chism will tell you below, CDs are relatively useless these days.
Thirty bucks for two 8 gig drives with music, videos and art isn’t too bad a deal, so Queens fans, swoop yours up here and check them out live on their Fall tour. If nothing else, it’s a useful tool and, hey, who doesn’t need an extra bottle opener lying around?
