Janelle Monae has unleashed the video for her track “Dance Apocalyptic,” the second single from her upcoming album, The Electric Lady, and it features a new look from the normally tuxedo clad singer.
The Grammy nominated, android loving R&B star really let her hair down for this one…literally. With long locks and a glammed up white outfit, Monae and her all girl band perform the end of the world themed “Dance Apocalyptic” for an American Bandstand style audience. The video is apparently a segment of a short film by the same name.
Monae’s second album, The Electric Lady, will include both “Dance Apocalyptic” and “Q.U.E.E.N.,” her first single, a duet with Erykah Badu that was released back in May. Judging by the lyrical content of the new tracks, she is continuing the utopian cyborg themes of her 2010 debut The ArchAndroid.
