Thanks go out to the Suggestion Box at Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, for providing some of The Roots’ most excellent and whimsical on the spot moments. This is especially true this week on the show, as members of the band have brought forth a pair of exceptionally awesome music spots.
First came an encore performance from Black Simon & Garfunkel, a new duo made up of The Roots’ “Captain” Kirk Douglas and ?uestlove, as requested at a fan’s suggestion. The two have been making a name for themselves in doing modest covers of such hits as Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop”, but this week’s bit, a gorgeous take on Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”, may just have proved itself as their best.
The second came in support of Fallon’s Video Game Week, as Tariq, AKA Black Thought, proceeded to flawlessly freestyle his own Super Mario Bros. philosophy as the game’s theme song beeped along with him.
