Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner and Wreckroom Records, who were crucial in the development of more than fifty artists in the Brooklyn music scene, have reunited Zinner’s previous band, Challenge of the Future, twelve years after their breakup. They recorded a live in-studio performance in the Wreckroom Studios and earned money for a good cause.
The purpose of this was to benefit the former band members’ Bard classmate Sebastian Quezeda’s young daughter. All proceeds from the new track “You Can’t Call Off the Dog” will go to Isabella Quezeda-Mitchell. Her father passed away young, leaving behind a strong love for his daughter and a passionate wish that she would be able to afford to get a post-secondary education. The Wreckroom benefit will hopefully earn enough money for a college fund.
Wreckroom has been a beacon of hope for other musicians over the years as well. The studio has provided studio time, engineers, video sessions, and financial support for over fifty artists who highly benefited from the studio’s generosity and kindness. Recently, they have begun releasing full EP’s and allowing artists to gain further notoriety by releasing live performance videos.
The song can also be downloaded on Bandcamp, and small donations can be made on the GoFundMe account set up in honour of Isabella.
